The SOMATOM Definition Flash delivers whole-body CT scans in 5 seconds and thorax imaging in 0.6 seconds without requiring breath holds. Unlike conventional single-source scanners, its dual-source architecture achieves true 75ms temporal resolution that’s heart-rate independent, making it particularly valuable for emergency coronary imaging and trauma protocols.
The scanner’s real-time dose modulation and Sub-mSV technology reduce radiation exposure while maintaining diagnostic quality. Worth noting: the single-dose Dual Energy capability provides enhanced contrast differentiation without the typical dose penalty, and iterative reconstruction further optimizes image quality at lower radiation levels.
The 78cm gantry opening and 300kg table capacity accommodate larger patients and emergency equipment. Flash Spiral mode reaches scan speeds of 458mm/s for rapid trauma workups.
